Marv & Laurie VandeStreek are the owners / inkeepers of the Edwin K B&B for nearly 16 years. Marv has had a long history of restaurant business, both owning and managing, in Oregon, California, and Alaska; and Laurie has worked for different state offices, including the Oregon State Police, and also does many different crafts. In the past, she owned her own ceramic store and currently mostly crochets, makes jewelry, which she sells at the B&B, and reads in her spare time!
This turn of the century waterfront home is located on Bay Street across the street from the Siuslaw River and the Oregon National Sand Dunes. The original Sears Craftsman house was built in 1914 by Edwin Kyle's father, William Kyle, who was one of the founders of Florence, Oregon, and was located where the Dairy Queen on Hwy. 101 sits today.
In 1970, the house was moved to its current location on Bay Street, and converted into a bed and breakfast in the early 1990s.
It is a pleasure to see the artistry of the woodcrafters who restored the Edwin K to its original beauty and glory.
